John Paul Hodge is an Indigenous folk musician; singer songwriter and story keeper, multi-instrumentalist, echoing his soulful and powerful voice wherever his music takes him. John Paul was born and raised where the red trees and green buds grow, in a rowdy working-class mixed-race family. Among his most popular songs are stories about blessings and salmon, outlaws and arsonists, burning sage and barroom brawls. John Paul makes a point to write songs that have many different meanings and interpretations, and resonate with all sorts of different folks from here and there. He shares his stories through his music, trading his art with others, as indigenous people have done throughout time. John Paul is currently recording an original fully acoustic native folk album aptly titled, “Burn Sage”. In 2019 he released “Outlaw Bits”, containing 14 storytelling songs in tribute style depicting the sounds of legendary outlaws of decades gone by. His first full album titled “Dirtboys” was released in 2007 and reflected a mix of gritty musical styles. Once you hear his music, it becomes clear that John Paul Hodge stands out as a unique and powerful singer and songwriter. So come, have a listen. John Paul Hodge’s songs can be enjoyed in person or online at johnpaulhodge.com.
